“And so a universe is born”
It was early 2025. I’d been stumbling upon games I wanted to play, my favorite genre being asymmetrical naturally, yet you really only have two options, DBD or it’s clones. Don’t get it twisted, DBD is great and all and is the face of asym games for a reason, but like everyone else, fatigue strikes. Also, I wanted to give a quick shout to Evolve by 2K as that also gave me inspiration for all of this. I desired to create a video game that combined similar game mechanics while having its own identity with its unique art style, gameplay and lore. I recognize that this has to stand out against the competition, or it is guaranteed to fail. Therefore, I’ve made it my personal goal to make sure it’s fun, have it obtain a comradely community, and listen for feedback, especially the negative. I’ll list my vision and intentions for the state of the game.
Free to Play
This one is essential and I plan to never charge to be able to have access to the game itself. Even though being FTP can be a challenge for some developers, there will be other methods that I’d prefer to use to be able to gain monetary value.
The Economics
The methods will be mainly cosmetic as well as quicker rewards. This game will never be pay-to-win. I heavily dislike pay-walling anything as that invites an imbalance of gameplay purely based on a player’s monetary status. Lastly, donations will always be welcomed and appreciated as that will help with development for the future.
A Nearly Unrestricted Community
This one is tough to decide. We all know how toxic similar games can be and even though I will forever discourage behavior like that, it’s admittedly a Ying and Yang case. Both friendly and unfriendly people fuel the game for better and for worse. There will be options and features that can improve a player’s experience in this regard, such as disabling the in-game chat entirely and a block list with more to come.
A True Mix of Difficulty
Yes, I know it’s sort of cliché to claim the “easy to learn, hard to master” thing, but I do want to make it a reality. No reading an essay for one ability. I don’t enjoy writing them either way. The game’s mechanics will be pretty straightforward for most people, while the real pros will instead be mastering when to use the weapon/ability, pure aim, and how to use it the most effectively way they can. At the end of the day, I don’t want anyone to lose because they didn’t understand how they lost, yet instead was simply outplayed.
Retention and Growth
The community keeps the game alive, not the other way around, and that’s why I’d like to have a fairly generous rewards system in place for both new and older players. Everything obtainable through normal means in the game will be able to be purchased with the free in-game currency, excluding nobody. People should always have something to look forward to, so certain progression features like exclusive or limited titles, profile banners, skins, etc. will be rotated monthly. An XP system will be in place for every character and weapon as well, having players gain something based on their levels.
Lore, Lore, Lore
Everyone enjoys an interesting fictional world to dive into. Even though gameplay will always be my number one priority, lore is just as special to me. Every character will have a detailed backstory, unique dynamics and lines when either teamed up or against each other, skins that relate to their history, and different play styles that make the most sense aligned with their personality.
